Lead Choreographer, Instructor, Founder and Director of Carpe Diem Dance Company!

Mel has been dancing Salsa since Feb 1999 and teaching since Dec 1999. She is a UKA Licentiate Instructor and specializes in all levels of classes from Beginners to Advanced, Footwork on 1 and on 2 and Ladies Flava, a new concept in Ladies Styling.

Performer, Instructor and Co Director of Carpe Diem Dance Company

Alicia has been dancing Salsa with Mel since 2001 and is a UKA qualified Instructor. She shares Mels love of footwork and body movement and is a great performer! Alicia is a very talented dancer and specialises in teaching Beginners and Ladies Styling.

 

Clare Holland

Clare Holland

Clare joined Carpe Diem Dance Company in July 2006. She made her performance debut at the UK Salsa Congress in front of 2000 people! Clare also teaches weekly for Latin Motion and occasionally assists Mel C with guest workshops.

She specialises in teaching Beginners through to Intermediate levels dancers and also shares Mel's love of footwork!

 

Cat

Cat

Cat started learning salsa in June 2006. She joined Carpe Diem Dance Company in March 2007 as a student and became a teaching assistant for Mel C's S.S.B (Shines Styling and Body Movement) class in July 2007.

Cat shares Mel’s love of Shines and Body Movement and is extremely competent at teaching Shines and Spinning Technique. She also assists Mel C at various events in the UK and has recently joined the Carpe Diem Dance Company Performance group.

 

Laura

Laura

Laura has been dancing various styles of dance since the very young age of 6. Styles of dance include Tap, Modern, Ballet, Jazz and now Salsa!

Laura joined Carpe Diem Dance Company as a teaching assistant in March 2007 and is currently training for her UKA teaching qualification. She can be found teaching Beginners Level 2 on Monday evenings at St Albans Community Centre as well as partnering Mel for the Improvers class.

She enjoys going out to the Social Clubs around Birmingham to practice her spinning technique, shine routines and of course to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the Salsa scene!

 

Ellen

Ellen

Ellen has been dancing with Mel since June 2007 and recently joined Carpe Diem Dance Company as a teaching assistant. She specialises in teaching Absolute Beginners, is developing a love of shines as well as becoming a Cha Cha fan!

Ellen can be found teaching Absolute Beginners alongside Mel on a Monday evening, her love of Latin Music is evident and she is a big fan of musicians like Richie Ray and Bobbie Cruz.

 

Sue Harvey

Sue Harvey

Sue has been dancing with Mel since 2001 and has been her teaching assistant at various events across the UK, including the popular Pontins Salsa Weekenders held several times a year in the UK.

 

Ellis

Ellis Birt

Ellis joined Carpe Diem Dance Company as a teaching assistant in June 2006, he is currently training for his UKA teaching qualification.

He can be found teaching alongside Mel C on a Monday Evening.

 

Joanne Richardson


Jo is the resident photographer for Carpe Diem, she is very creative and really knows how to capture that perfect moment! She runs her own Photography Company called Peek A Boo and is available for any type of event.
